Magento Vs OsCommerce Comparison for Business Owners

By John Allen November 3, 2022 No Comments

Web hosting is a service provided to users (individuals or organizations) to float their own websites which are accessible through the internet. The scope of web hosting varies widely and can range from simple single web pages to complex and heavy websites which entails database support and development of applications.

Magento Web Hosting Services is one such service. Magento is primarily an ecommerce solutions provider which comes with a variety of tools. It is an open source system and has some built-in features, such as promo pricing, coupon codes, detailed Statistics and search engine optimization options. Magento provides high security using private SSL certificate and along with attractive features like shipping options, different payment engines and a host of other features, it surely is a sought after service for building and successfully managing an online store. Some of the key features of Magento which makes it popular include catalog browsing and management, order management, shipping and payment, customer accounts and customer Service, etc.

OsCommerce Web Hosting is another such service. If one has chosen to build their online shop using this platform, one key feature that will attract them is their customized hosting solutions along with a promise of high uptime through fast and secure servers located in three continents. It consists of both a catalog frontend and an administration tool backend. It is also large, open source software for developing an online shop and includes features such as dedicated support staff with a promise of low average ticket response time and proactive uptime monitoring option to add SSL to any of their plans.

Another, big advantage for OsCommerce is that it does not have any special requirements and can run on almost any PHP 4.1+ enabled web server. Some of its key features include usage of an indexed database enabling it to handle a large number of products, availability of a large number of add-ons which increases the customization experience, easy to install, ability to add SEF (Search Engine Friendly) URLs, custom currencies, taxes and shipping modules.

So both Magento and OsCommerce offer good functionalities that are user friendly but there are certain differences that makes users think about selecting the best out of two. Regarding modules and functionality, as already mentioned both have user friendly functionalities but Magento has all the modules, features and functionalities of OsCommerce and additionally it offers some very useful features like meta tags and changeable order mails.
